CWF Custom Project Guide
Here are some helpful guidelines when considering a custom order:
Decide what dimensions will work in your space and what materials you would like to use.
Dimensions
When it comes to creating furniture pieces, having accurate dimensions is essential. However, if you’re not entirely sure about the exact measurements for your piece, an approximate estimate can still be helpful.
Certain types of furniture, including dining tables, desks, benches, and bathroom vanities, have a set range of standard dimensions. Other furniture pieces, however, do not have standardized dimensions, leaving room for creativity and personal preference.
As you begin to prepare a design or quote request, the following guidelines may be helpful:
Dining Tables:
Standard Height: 30 inches
Height Range: 28-31 inches
Width: No standard
Length: No standard
Desks:
Standard Height: 28 inches
Height Range: 26-30 inches
Depth: 24 inches or greater
Length: No standard
Bathroom Vanity:
Standard Height: No standard
Height Range: 30-36 inches
Depth Range: 20-24 inches
Length: No standard
Remember that these guidelines are just that, guidelines. They can be used as a starting point for your design or quote request, but ultimately, it’s up to you to decide what dimensions will work best for your project.
Materials
Most furniture projects do best with hardwoods. Here are a few of the hardwoods that we work with. We also use high quality epoxy for some projects which can create esthetic appeal.
Hardware and Finish
For your project, hardware and finish choices can be crucial. Each component can impact functionality, durability, and aesthetic appeal. Consider materials, designs, and features for your hardware selection. There are many options to choose from – whether you require heavy-duty hardware and finish for frequent use or stylish options for less-used pieces. Take the time to explore available options to meet your needs and budget for your custom order.
Finish:
The finish is the clear coating that is applied to the wood. There are many sheens available, from flat to semigloss. If you desire a different color than the natural wood, stains are available as well. Some woods, like oak, will take stain really well, while darker woods like walnut may not.
Hardware:
Hardware refers to drawer slides, handles, fasteners, etc. Our standard is soft-close undermount drawer slides and soft-close hinges. We can include the pulls and handles, or you can purchase your own, and we can install them on-site.

FAQ
why Custom Order?
When you custom order, you get a one-of-a-kind piece that is perfect for your home.
where do you get your materials?
We source most of our larger slabs from local sawmills here in Colorado. We get our dimensional lumber from suppliers who source the highest quality materials around the country.
What is your lead time for custom orders?
The simple answer is 1-3 months. It depends on the time of year, the project’s complexity, and the sourcing of materials. Items made using readily available materials will take less time the build. Please allow a little more time around the holidays because of increased demand.
